• Florida's Turnpike Goes Cashless In Area That Was Still Accepting Cash

  Wflanews.iheart.com - November 8, 2021 -If you take the Turnpike north of the Lantana toll plaza and through the Treasure Coast, you'll no longer be able to use cash.

  As of Monday, the stretch of Turnpike between the Lantana plaza and the Three Lakes Plaza in St. Cloud is an all-electronic tolling system that only allows toll collection through SunPass or "pay by plate," which means you'll receive a bill by mail.

  The SunPass transponder will save you the fees that come with "pay by plate."

• Ohio Turnpike paves way for $200M overhaul

  Vindy.com - November 1, 2021 -Upgrades are coming to the portion of the Ohio Turnpike that runs through the Mahoning Valley, including a new, nearly $20 million toll plaza in Newton Township and eventual reconfiguration of plazas west to the end of the road.

  Work is happening now on the new plaza in a large, wooded area off the turnpike between Warren Ravenna and Newton Falls Bailey roads.

  "It won't be an interchange where one gets on or off, it's simply the point at which tolls will begin to be charged," said Brian Newbacher, public information officer for the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission. Read more >>

• Maine Turnpike toll increase takes effect Monday

  Bangordailynews.com - November 1, 2021 -The Maine Turnpike Authority increased its tolls starting Monday, marking the first hike in nine years.

  The toll for passenger cars passing through the new toll booths in York is increasing from $3 to $4. The Maine E-Z Pass rate is increasing by 4 percent from 7.7 cents per mile to 8 cents per mile. Other fees are increasing, as well.

  The toll increases are expected to generate an additional $17 million in revenue to help offset the $60 million financial shortfall caused by less traffic during the pandemic. Read more >>

  Observer-reporter.com - October 27, 2021 -The number of E-Z Pass transponders sold at area stores surged this month just as the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened the new Southern Beltway toll road.

  The AAA branch in Washington sold triple the number of E-Z Pass electronic toll collection units on Oct. 15 – the day the 13-mile highway opened to motorists – than it would normally, AAA spokesman Jim Garrity said Wednesday. Read more >>
